- Isn’t hospice only for cancer patients?
- No. Patients with ANY terminal diagnosis may utilize the benefit if there is a prognosis of 6 months or less if the disease takes its normal course.
- Do I need a doctor’s order for hospice care?
- No. The referral to hospice can be made by anyone. Whether you call for yourself, a loved one, or even a neighbor, we respond quickly in order to be sure that person finds the help they need.
- How do I pay for hospice?
- Most hospice patients are eligible through their Medicare benefit, which covers all aspects of hospice care and services as they relate to their terminal diagnosis. In most states, Medicaid offers similar coverage. Private health insurance may also offer a hospice benefit, but with varying terms.
- Do I have to leave home to be on hospice?
- No. Hospice happens wherever you consider home to be.
- Am I giving up?
- No. Hospice care, is very aggressive in its symptom management. Our goal is to provide for the best quality of life for as long as the disease lets the patient live. We are here to help you achieve YOUR goals of care

- No. The benefit itself is designed to provide comprehensive care for the duration of the patient’s decline. In providing quality care, every discipline can adjust the extent of their involvement according to patient need through their time on service.
